Personal Skills To Improve – Preparation Builds Confidence

Personal Skills To Improve

Step 3: Be Prepared; Preparation Builds Confidence

The late, great Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry once said, "If you are prepared, you will be confident and will do the job.'' The logic is inescapable. If you prepare well, your confidence will soar. And the greater your confidence, the better you can focus on the task at hand.

One of the most thoroughly prepared basketball players of all time was Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. After winning the NBA championship in 1984 against the Los Angeles Lakers, Bird said, "I had all the confidence in the world. When I took a shot, I believed it was going in, every time. I had taken so many shots, I couldn't imagine missing. I only thought in positive terms."

Filmmaker George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars and lndiana Jones epics, said, "You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don't have that kind of feeling for what it is you are doing, you'll stop at the first giant hurdle."

And Jim Lehrer, news anchor for Newshour on PBS, put it this way: "Take risks … Be willing to put your mind and your spirit, your time and your energy, your stomach and your emotions on the line. To search for a safe place, to search for an end to a rainbow, is to search for a place that you will hate once you find it. The soul must be nourished along with the bank account and the resume. Tips On Self Improvement – Take Risk Than Being Spectator

Tips On Self Improvement

Back in October 1996. I was in Washington, D.C., for the twenty-seventh running of the Marine Corps Marathon. Before the start of the race, I chatted with the lady next to me and found out that she was from Baltimore and was running her first marathon. Appropriately enough, she wore a T-shirt printed with the words, "When was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time?" What a great statement of a bold attitude!

The starting gun sounded, and we were off! As I ran, I noticed a gray-haired woman loping easily along. Curious, I sidled up to her and asked, "How are you doing?"

Ways To Improve Personality – Focus Focus Focus

Ways To Improve Personality

I told a story about Robin Roberts, the coanchor of ABC's Good Morning America. But there was another Robin Roberts, a Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher who I remember well from my boyhood days as a Philadelphia Phillies fan. He pitched for the Phillies from 1948 through 1961 and closed out his career with the Orioles, Astros, and Cubs. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1976.

I watched Robin Roberts pitch many times, and I remember him as a guy who was always cool under pressure. Nothing ever seemed to get to him. He once said, "I think much of the reason nerves never bothered me when I pitched … was that I was able to concentrate so well on the mound. I just stood out there in total isolation, focused on throwing the ball as well as I could. Nothing bothered me and I was oblivious to even the batter. When I was throwing well, I would only see the bat when it swung, my concentration was so centered on the catcher. As far as I was concerned the ball was going to the catcher, not the batter." In other words, the source of his confidence was his extreme focus. Nothing could break his concentration, so nothing could shake his confidence.

Using Your ‘Vibes’ To Increase Sales

Have you noticed that there are salespeople out there who seem to be very lucky and are able to get the best clients, the quickest sales and just seem to close contracts easily and quickly? And there are also salespeople who set targets and work hard who sometimes get this luck but sometimes not?

The answer may lie in an interesting area of study called the Law of Attraction. Although a concept that has been around since the early 1900's, with the publication of books such as 'The Science of Getting Rich' by Wallace Wattles, 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill and 'The Master Key System' by Charles F Haanel, it is only in recent years that corporations have been adopting its principles in different areas such as Sales, Motivation, Team Building and even Leadership.

So what is the Law of Attraction?

We say that whenever you use words like luck, karma, serendipity and synchronicity, there is evidence that the Law of Attraction exists in your life. In definition, the Law of Attraction states that one attracts to oneself, his life and business whatever he gives his attention, energy and focus to, whether negative or positive.
