Motivational Theory Of Leadership – Believe And Make It Happen

Motivational Theory Of Leadership

If you believe something is possible, you will do everything you can to make it happen. You will take massive action and diligently work towards achieving what you believe is possible. Subsequently, when you finally achieve it, it will reinforce your belief system that the very core values and rules that you believed in are true. And when you embark on your next project that you believe in, you will take similar actions that have proven useful previously.

If, along the way, you meet with challenges and obstacles that threaten to derail you on your path to success, your belief system will enable you to convert any failures into lessons to be learnt, negative feedback into constructive criticism. You will be empowered to turn lemons into lemonade until you get the results that you want.

Your past successful experiences allow you to construct a set of values that you hold dear to and your future actions will be aligned to this set of values. That is the main reason why some people that subscribe to beliefs that limit them, keep failing to achieve their goals in their lives, such as achieving their ideal weight or finding Mr. Right.

After failing a couple of times, their experiences reinforce their belief systems and ultimately, no matter what they do, they will never achieve their targets or goals. Fortunately, there are ways in which we can disempower these limiting beliefs and set new and powerful core values and belief systems to empower ourselves to achieve our goals.

When two people sit together on the mountain with a view of the seaside, one may see the picturesque sunset and savour the calmness of his surroundings. On the other hand, the other may offer a totally different perspective of what he sees. In his mind may be skyscrapers of mammoth proportions, flyovers that stretch beyond the human eye and concrete results of rapid developments and technology.

This is why Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest film makers of our time, is so successful. He is an individual who is able to visualize what others cannot. He can imagine himself in a realm that has not even existed yet. He is able to specifically state what he wants done to the minute detail. In short, he has a crystal clear picture of what he wants to achieve and not just some blurry image. His desire to make movies was so strong that during a visit to the Hollywood theatre in his college years, he sneaked past the guards to catch a glimpse of how the directors worked. Needless to say, he derived his inspiration there. During the peak of his career, he made movies that stretched our imagination and awed us, using the technology which was unheard of to the layman.

Why is it that literally even from the same angle, two people may have different perspectives of the same object with a different view, differing perspective? The answer is because each of us has a different perspective of what may be true for us. Ask different people to define the idea of being rich. The replies you may get may range from being able to put three square meals on a table each day to owning two airports and a small island.

People's beliefs, based on what they have gone through, have helped shape their perspectives on every single dimension. When your belief limits you, look out for information elsewhere, where people have done what you aspire to do, and strengthen your beliefs by telling yourself you can accomplish what others have.

Even if you have set out to accomplish what nobody has done before, worry not. Roger Bannister did not wait for someone to run a mile under four minutes before he set that as his target! The key here is proper planning and execution.

Once you are absolutely clear about what you want to achieve, draw up a detailed plan on how you are going to accomplish it. My definition of "detailed" means, to be absolutely clear on the How, Where, When, What and so forth. Not just some blurry images of what desires you have over bedtime. Do also periodically review your plan until you get what you want. To find out more, you can check out Motivational Theory Of Leadership.
